MAKING AN APPOINTMENT

If you would like to schedule an appointment, or address your questions about engaging in therapy, please contact Chris on 0438 738 949, or via email. As Chris is frequently in session with clients, email contact is preferred in the first instance. If Chris is unable to answer your call, please leave a message so he can return your call.

Chris is now able to accept new clients, thank you for your patience.

For face-to-face appointments, clients are asked to follow relevant guidelines regarding COVID-symptom management and testing - this helps to protect vulnerable clients using the therapy space.

REFERRALS & REBATES

A referral is not required to see a psychologist, but it can help to offset the cost. With a mental health care plan and referral from a GP or psychiatrist you could be eligible for a Medicare rebate. Currently, the Medicare rebate for a clinical psychologist is $141.85 per session. For eligible clients, a mental health care plan enables you to receive a rebate for up to 10 sessions in a calendar year. This involves a standard Medicare cycle of 10 sessions. The additional 10 sessions for those affected by lockdown restrictions in Australia has been discontinued. Advocacy for reinstatement of additional support is ongoing across the mental health community.

Private health insurance can also cover some of the cost of your sessions, depending on your chosen cover. Please contact your insurer for further information and to confirm your eligibility.

FEES

The fee for each session from February 2023 is $270, billed per 50 minute session. For those eligible for a Medicare rebate, the out-of-pocket cost is  $128.15 per session.

Session fees are due to be paid on the day of consultation. Cancellations within 48 hours of the appointment or no-shows on the day may incur the full session fee of $270 - this fee is not eligible for a Medicare rebate. This fee reflects the business cost of managing an empty timeslot at very short notice.
