About Dr Chris

EXPERIENCE

Before working in private practice, Chris was a therapist in the public health system through Austin Health, as well as private health through the Victoria Clinic. Chris has also worked as a Senior Psychologist in a residential aged care facility. Chris has experience in working with individuals from a wide-range of backgrounds, including those for whom English is a second language, and is a LGBTQI-friendly therapist.

THERAPY STYLE

Chris uses a person-centered approach to therapy,  flexibly drawing on a variety of evidence-based therapies, depending on client needs and preferences. His training includes:

  • Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT)

  • Emotion Focused Therapy (EFT)

  • Schema Therapy

  • Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT)

  • Positive Psychology

Chris works with individuals 15 years and over to help with a wide range of problems with mental health and wellbeing, including:

  • Anxiety (including social anxiety)

  • Depression

  • Identifying and changing unhelpful or unhealthy patterns of behaviour

  • Grief and loss

  • Processing trauma

  • Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder

  • Relationship difficulties
  • Regulating emotions and managing challenging emotions such as anger and shame
  • Quieting self-criticism and developing self-compassion

  • Fully endorsed as a Clinical Psychologist

  • Member of the Australian Psychological Society (MAPS)

  • Doctor of Philosophy (Clinical Psychology)

    • Including a PhD research thesis on the relationship between shame and social anxiety
